“SURVEYS ON VULNERABLE GROUPS EXPOSED TO HIV IN THE MARONI”

“SURVEYS ON VULNERABLE GROUPS EXPOSED TO HIV IN THE MARONI”

*Project run by the CHAR of French Guyana.

The COREVIH of French Guyana reported an increase in the incidence of HIV which raises concern in the sub-region where villages are isolated and away from the system of care and prevention at the border with Suriname.

KABP type investigations have been implemented with people living in the villages of Apatou, Grand Santi, Papaïchton and Maripa-Soula, mostly Amerindian or “marrons” from questionnaires translated into Nengé, Tongo.

896 people participated in the investigation in MARONI under the supervision of the CHAR in French Guyana..

These surveys on Maroni have provided a better understanding of epidemiological elements unfavorable to these people, to identify and quantify their needs.
